The sheared-flow-stabilized Z-pinch concept is on a path to commercialization at Zap Energy. Recent experiments the Fusion Experiment (FuZE) device corroborate expected plasma stability and thermonuclear fusion reaction rates. Experimental campaigns are underway increase pinch current, stable duration, DD neutron production. next-generation FuZE-Q currently undergoing commissioning will begin operation current levels where scientific breakeven-equivalent conditions in near future. configuration offers promise of compact owing its simple geometry, unity beta, absence external magnetic field coils.In addition robust experimental program pushing performance toward breakeven conditions, Energy has parallel programs developing power handling systems suitable for future plants. Technologies under development include high-average-power repetitive pulsed power, high-duty-cycle cathodes, liquid-metal wall systems. High-level features conceptual plant core design elaborated compared with other approaches energy.
